KAVALI MUDRA- FIRST AID EPILEPSY

In this article, we discover the therapeutic benefits of Kavali Mudra, a powerful hand gesture traditionally used to support those with epilepsy and digestive disorders. This Mudra acts as a natural aid for seizure management while promoting healthy digestion and regular bowel movements.

What is Kavali Mudra

Kavali Mudra targets the Kavali Varmam, a vital pressure point located at the purlicue (the space between the thumb and index finger). Stimulating this point is believed to interrupt epileptic seizures and assist with digestive processes.

Key Benefits of Kavali Mudra- FIRST AID EPILEPSY

  • Epilepsy First Aid: Helps interrupt or shorten epileptic seizures.

  • Digestive Support: Promotes bowel movements and relieves constipation.

How to Perform Kavali Mudra

Regular Practice (Preventative):

  1. Hand Placement: Place the index finger of your right hand beneath the purlicue(the space between the thumb and index finger) of your left hand, pushing upwards to create a slight bump.

  2. Thumb Pressure: Gently press your right thumb on the raised bump, applying enough pressure to feel a pulse.

  3. Relaxed Fingers: Keep your remaining fingers relaxed.

  4. Duration: Practice regularly for preventative benefits.

During or After a Seizure (First Aid):

  1. Hand Selection (Men - Right, Women - Left): For men, use the right hand's purlicue(the space between the thumb and index finger); for women, use the left hand's purlicue.

  2. Index Finger and Thumb: Place the index finger of the opposite hand beneath the designated purlicue(the space between the thumb and index finger) and press firmly upwards. Simultaneously, press the thumb of the opposite hand firmly on top of the created bump.

  3. Firm Pressure and Pull: Apply firm pressure with both the thumb and index finger, pulling slightly outwards.

  4. Repetitions: If necessary, repeat this process 3-4 times with increased pressure.

For Digestive Support:

  1. Left Hand: Use the left hand for this application, regardless of gender.

  2. Gentle Pressure: Gently press the Kavali Varmam (the space between the thumb and index finger ******of the left hand) with the right thumb and index finger while seated for defecation.

Kavali Mudra - Best Practices for Optimal Results

  • For first aid, apply firm pressure. For regular practice and digestive support, use gentle pressure.

  • Avoid applying excessive pressure and be mindful of the pressure points to ensure proper technique. Remember to maintain proper posture throughout the practice.

  • Pay attention to your breath, allowing it to flow naturally and deeply.

  • Avoid practicing Mudras while walking, standing and immediately after eating. Do not sit on a bare floor while practicing.

  • Note: Kavali Mudra is a potential first-aid technique and should not replace conventional medical treatment for epilepsy. Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional for diagnosis and treatment.

Integrating Kavali Mudra into Daily Life
